The new XP Cold Air intake kit is an extra I take that works in two ways. First, it eliminates the "bog" or loss of power caused by the stock air intake clogging with snow. It doesn’t replace the stock intake but adds another location for air to be drawn I to the stock airbox. The "Gauge Vent" is mounted behind the windshield a few inches above the top of the primary air box. The "Air Box Vent" mounts on top of the primary air box which allows for cold fresh air to be drawn into the system. Second, it allows hot air from the engine compartment to escape through the highest point on the sled through the "Gauge Vent" (hot air rises). This kit almost doubles the surface area for air to enter the stock air box. It is made of durable aluminum with a pvc mesh covering it. Both the Air box vent and Gauge vent have an extra layer of waterproof OEM spec pre-filter to keep fine powder out. Unlike all other kits it doesn't have a wimpy "frame" of aluminum with mesh that trees and sharp objects can cut through. There isn't a tree out there big or sharp enough to cut through this perforated aluminum, so FEAR NOT when riding through tight spots and thick trees. These vents have been manufactured to stand the test of time under any riding condition. Comes complete with the Gauge Vent (Installed behind the windshield above the gauges) and thes Air Box Vent (Installed on the top of the stock air box) all the instructions, templates, and rivets needed for do-it-yourself installation. NO Jetting is required! The air box vent is located "upstream" of the air temp sensor so the DPM can work normally. Just install and go!
